So I’ve had a long absence over the last few months from blogging. I’ve been crazy busy with a bunch of things. From a Lego exhibition in Christchurch over a month ago, Guild Wars 2 betas strewn in between, to finding work back at my old stomping grounds (in name, not location sadly) at Natcoll, though now it’s called Yoobee School of Design.
So, that Lego Exhibit. Went awesomely. So many people came to see our creations, so it was a pretty busy weekend. Sadly, I’ve misplaced my photos that I took of the event. Hopefully I put them somewhere, but got the bad feeling that I accidentally deleted them. :(
Guild Wars 2 released at the end of August with spectacular beauty. The three days of the pre-release play for those that shelled out a bit more, or were lucky to participate went remarkably well, despite the first few hours of server hiccups. As of now the play is in full swing and activity all through the servers is pretty high. It interests me that I haven’t played it all week, though my playtime was otherwise occupied with more important pursuits, which I’ll mention a bit later.

Since May up until now I’ve been pretty swamped in work. Which was pretty good for me, but it left other low priority commitments lacking any degree of attention. Minecraft skins, LEGO based creations, even fiction writing ended up taking a back seat to work. We’ve all done it before, sacrificing things we like in order to pay the bills and such.
I have my doubts on freelance after experiencing it first hand. It doesn’t fit me as I thought it might, but that’s alright. Live, learn and move on. Relief tutoring at Natcoll (yes, back to school again!) is keeping me occupied for when they call me, and I suspect that I will be taking over for my old Animation tutor later in the year.
Anyway, a recap of what I’ve been doing since my last post: Freelance work ended up taking up a good portion of my waking hours, mainly because I’m a perfectionist and won’t stop working until it looks just right. Kinda good work ethic, kinda bad for health. I got cranky and ditzy at certain times, which was just completely detrimental to my work. So I pulled back a bit and kept a balance on things. Worked a bit, and could focus a bit better.

The Charr. Feral, Violent, Technologically superior. Oh and furry! After retaking their homelands that the Ascalonians had held for many years, it seems to have been turned into a rather large… factory. There are statues revering their heroes of past, a training arena for young cubs to become fierce warriors. Oh and an automobile manufacturing facility. That’s right, Charr make cars.
